Owner, Laura McCloskey
Laura McCloskey founded Cowboy’s in 2003 after a successful career as a Manhattan based CPA for two “Big 8” firms, where her clients were focused on retail and food. A former food-writer for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Laura enjoys exploring the world for food trends she can interpret for her savvy customers. Raised in Massachusetts, Laura graduated from Smith College and has an Ivy League MBA.
Head Butcher, Shauna Asplint
Shauna Asplint is a graduate of Nantucket High School, and the store manager and head butcher of Cowboy’s. A talented cook, Shauna is the pit master of our corkshack smoker. Her wood-smoked pork ribs are fall off the bone delicious. When she’s not at work, Shauna is a single mom to an active preschool boy.
Cheese Manager, Indigo Sutton-Yuzna
This is Indigo Sutton-Yuzna’s third season at Cowboy’s as wine and cheese manager. Indigo is an honors student at The University of Vermont where he studies biochemistry. A fourth generation Nantucketer, Indigo enjoys skateboarding and the beach in his free time
Sandwich and Salad Manager, Sonya Martel
Sonya Martel is a recent Nantucket High School graduate, and is now earning her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology at Franklin Pierce University. She is a 16th generation native of Nantucket, and has always enjoyed playing an active role in the community. This is her second season at Cowboy’s, and is the sandwich and salad manager. Sonya enjoys spending time with her family and her pets.
